Saloon Championship Round 5
	A poor turnout of only 12 members for the 5th round of our Saloon Championship but what was lacking in quantity was certainly made up for in quality! The low numbers were partly due to the fact that the Championship is pretty much sewn up in Ian B's favour and he certainly put the seal on his dominance of Saloon this year finishing miles ahead of everyone else. The usual qualifying was followed by the customary 'bonus point' finals. Ian B dominated the top grade with a Saloon Class Lane Best on Yellow of 49.49 which was followed by a Saloon Class Record of 49.81 on White!  His run on White was on course for a 50 at one point but Ian didn't reckon he was going very quick as Jody was only a lap behind, setting himself a Personal Saloon Best of 48.24 on the way - just a bit quicker than he can go with his damn Falcons!  Ian K had some good runs to qualify 3rd but couldn't quite match the pace. Behind these three, Graham H had a better night to easily qualify 4th ahead of Chris C and only just a fraction behind Ian K. The Finals looked promising but each ended up with drivers fairly well spread out. The 'C' Final saw a comfortable win for Terry from Robin - setting his best time of the evening, and comfortably ahead of Stephen and Simon WT. The 'B' Final was probably the closest fought of the three with Malcolm coming good to beat Chris C by half a lap with with Simon's J and T following behind. After the record-breaking in the heats, the 'A' Final promised much but, although Ian B easily won, he couldn't quite match his earlier pace, finishing on a good 48 though over 2 laps ahead of Ian K. with Graham H just behind and Jody fading back in 4th. All in all an excellent evening's racing!  I wonder how many other Clubs have racing of this quality on an ordinary Club night?  Not Many!
