this week was Round 2 of our Club 1/24 Production - a bit of a mish-mash of
Production chassis, Sports bodies and S16-D or Falcon power! Normally, 1/24 racing on our tightish track
is more like stock car racing but most members (though not all!) have
realised that giving way to an over-taking car does make for better racing,
so racing this week wasn't too bad at all. Most cars were Falcon powered with
only a handful still persisting with S16-D's. 'Only' 16 members racing this week, plus Jody arriving late to take over race control. The usual qualifying system saw Ian B, now joined the Falcon ranks, easily TQ ahead of a flying Chris C (new motor brushes /do/ make a difference in a S16-D!) with it all very close behind between Ian K, Stuart and Roland. All the quick times were during qualifying with Class PB's from Chris C, Robin (?) and young Graham R, making his 1/24 debut. 16 racing meant four full Finals. The 'D' Final saw Graham R (the older one!) comfortably win and score 5 bonus points, from Simon WT, Terry and Graham R (the younger one!). Phil H ended up down in the 'C' Final but came good to easily win ahead of Simon J - both with their best times of the evening, ahead of Robin and Chris M. 'B' Finals have produced the best racing in recent weeks and this one was no exception. Chris B opted out, which left a 3 man race for Graham H to take a good win, a lap ahead of Malcolm who finished just 1 part ahead of Roland. Good close stuff. The 'A' Final rounded things off, and was the usual carnage expected of 'A' Finals! Ian B ( now nick-named Moses - there are plans to take him out into mid-channel and see if he really can walk on water!), managed to avoid everything around him to take an easy win from Chris C and his best result of the year. Ian K survived to finish 3rd ahead of a fading Stuart. |
