Sports Championship Round 2
This week's racing was for the 2nd Round of our Sports Championship and 18 drivers turned up, including a welcome visit by Vince from Coulsdon - down here to enjoy our 'proper' sports racing, a rare event on the average club night. We are, of course, well above average in that respect!

With Vince racing, and Phil M having put in potential record times in practice last week, it looked set for a good night's racing.The usual qualifying system with best 3 runs counting saw, Ian (Mr Consistancy) B easily come out TQ ahead of a very close thing between Vince and Phil M, with Stuart close behind completing the top 4.

18 drivers meant 5 Finals but young Graham had to go early leaving Simon WT with a bye in the 'E' Final, and a very easy 5 bonus points!

The 'D' Final saw Terry run out a fairly easy  winner ahead of Roland, Robin and a fading Graham R (the older one!)

Unfair to say that the 'C' Final had all the old lags in it (!),  but Ian K got it together to beat Simon J - both with their best runs of the evening, and followed home by Bill and a slowing Chris B.

As always, the 'B' Final promised good things and Phil H finally got going to win with his best time of the evening from Jody's damn quick flying Falcon. Malcolm didn't
like his choice of Red lane but did keep in front of Chris C, slowed by bad pick-up.

And so to the 'A' Final.  Not quite a non-event but Ian B dominated things with what must be one of his best ever times (?) to win from Vince, who set a new Blue lane
best in the process. Both Phil M and Stuart dropped out early leaving them a nice clear run. Being a non-member, Vince wasn't eligible for bonus points - or points at
all for that matter, but did get his name on the record board again!

So, well done to Ian B for winning yet another Championship Round, with Phil M 2nd, Stuart 3rd and Malcolm 4th.  Surely he isn't going to make a clean sweep
this year?
