Formula 1 Championship Round 1
The 1st round of our F1 Championship this week attracted no less than 15 Members - all racing F1, which must be something of a record in itself!  And, five of our regulars were absent so we can still get those 20+ turnouts again!

Phil M made one of his periodical visits and quickly re-established his dominance of F1 by taking the TQ spot in qualifying ahead of Ian B and Phil H, and also setting a Blue Lane F1 best as well. Of the 15 racing, there were only 4 'proper' strap F1's with the rest being Falcons - apart from Terry's near retro 13-UO!  Although the straps raced together in qualifying, one or two of the Falcons were embarassingly quick with Stuart qualifying 4th just ahead of Jody.

Finals in F1 this year are all run over 50 laps, which definately means value for money for the slower drivers!The 'D' Final was a 3 person affair with Terry's vintage 13-UO easily winning from Simon WT and Christine, who was making her F1 debut - and going quite nicely as well.

The 'C' Final was two races in one, with Malcolm doing the winning but only just getting the better of Graham H, and they were followed home, some way behind, by Chris M in 3rd just managing to stay ahead of Robin.

Most weeks, the 'B' Final turns out to be the closest of the evening and this week it ended up with little over One lap between the four drivers after the 50 laps.  Ian K just
about kept ahead of Jody to win, with Simon J just pipping Chris C for 3rd.

Rounding off the evening, the 'A' Final was its usual anti-climax with Phil M continuing to dominate the class and easily winning ahead of a good dice between Ian B and
Phil H with Stuart and his Falcon bringing up the rear.

Apart from some of the marshalling (which we won't mention!) a good evening and nice to see someone other than Mr B winning a Championship round.
