The usual qualifying was once again run in a graded format with Stuart and his flying falcon TQ ahead of Phil M, Ian B and Chris C.No less than nine drivers opted for falcons - Phil M did start with a S-16D but blew the comm in his first run and did a rapid motor swop to a falcon, with excellent results.
Racing was the usual chaotic 1/24 style with some members still in need of learning a bit of race craft, but there were some good races with Chris B, Robin and Simon WT all putting in class bests.
A disappointing trend lately is for members who don't have things go their way for various reasons, packing up and leaving early. This not only depletes us of marshalls but but also mucks up the finals and points system. Fortunately, our most excellent Race Controller is normally able to re-arrange things to cope! Slot racing is still supposed to be fun!
Just 11 drivers were left for the finals this week and a bit of jiggery-pockery amalgamated the 'D' and 'C' Finals, giving Stephen a clear win of the 'D' section to gain his 5 bonus
points. The 'C' final part was only just won by Graham R by just 2 parts of a lap from Terry with Simon WT bringing up the rear.
The 'B' final was a three man affair with Phil H and his S-16D comfortably winning from Ian K who put in his fastest time of the evening to post a personal class best, with Robin
(definately running a falcon!) in third.
The evening finished with the 'A' final and Stuart continues to get his falcon going quicker than everyone else to easily win with an excellent 50.14, his best of the evening and a
red lane 1/24 production best as well. Phil M and Ian B had a good race behind with Phil taking 2nd by only 5 parts, and Chris C once again following on behind - embarassingly
the only S-16D in the 'A' final.
So, Stuart takes the first round of our 1/24 Production Championship but, as ever, a long way till the end of the year.
